What are crossfit workouts like?

CrossFit Workouts

One of the most frequent questions we get from those considering to join is, "What is the typical CrossFit workout?"

As we stated in our Breakdown section, CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics or body weight movements, weightlifting, running, rowing and more.

Here is a sample list of the types of equipment you could use in our workouts.

Rowers

Barbells and Plates

Dumbbells

Wallballs

Sandbags

Assault Bikes

Plyo Boxes

Ropes

Kettlebells

Please keep in mind this list is just a sample and not an complete list of all the equipment that is available.

To describe a typical CrossFit workout is like trying to explain all the different types of colors that exist in the world.  The combination and variety of workouts are enough to fill books, but we promise you'll never get bored.  It is better to explain the structure of an hour class.

  1. Each coach lead class starts with an explanation of the WOD or Workout Of the Day.
  2. The coach will then walk the members through a series of warm-up movements and stretches which will prime everyone's bodies for the WOD.   During this time, the coach will take the time to answer questions, check to make sure members are safely doing movements, providing scales to movements as needed, checking and correcting form as well as giving reminders and advise.
  3. When everyone is ready, the class starts the WOD together and the coach watches by calling out times, checking and correcting form, giving encouragement and making sure everyone is executing the movements safely
  4. When the WOD is complete - The coach checks in with each member to see how they are doing and provides cooldown stretches to ease members back to a normal state.

It's that easy.  Come in and workout with a great group of people who are challenging themselves just like you are.
